Political Decay

September 27th, 2009 by Tony

Wretched dark figures appeared in the sky,
And towards the earth spat drops of hate,
On the mountain people build dams so high,
To undoubtedly feast of that which came

Drunk, corrupted, they slowly decayed
Undead they walk, blinded by hate,
Vision tainted, conscience faded,
Wells of darkness they became

Beyond the dams the stream overflew
Carrying corpses to virgin lands,
And as roses wither so does the pure,
Innocents swept away by the floods

Oh how hard it is to see sunshine
Amidst the undead rotten corpses,
To try to fake a smile,
For a lost putrid land

this is such a beautiful poem ! it is amazing how you transferred the idea, the third part blew my mind ^^
how darkness and hate spread to take with it everyone, even the pure ones can’t escape from it…

    Tonyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

I must admit this is too “dark & gloomy” for my taste :(
Sorry….. but that’s my first reaction. Man IS what he thinketh… Let’s try the positive psychology guyzzzzz. I am not as fluent in writing poems as you are, but let’s say for instance:

Sunshine hovers over darkness & sweeps it away
Good will conquer evil each second of the day….

Can you finish that??? How about some optimism ya Tony :)

Life is so darn good. we can make it even better. Look around you :) I see a wonderful community here & I barely know you guyz ;)

    In love & light :)

As you see Dania I believe the poem did it’s job, It was supposed to express my frustration at the Lebanese politics, which ofc I see as “dark and gloomy” and most of all disgusting.

Reality can sometimes be disgusting, but that is not a reason why it should be sugar-coated, I think this poem shows well my personal view of Lebanese politics, and my deceptions and disgust when I see people filled with hate, and people torturing other people or denying some of their rights because of their sects and mentalities. And hate being taught to the children by the parents and common media.

Life is good, there is plenty of good things, but it is not worth the hassle of generalizing one bad thing to the whole, or one good thing to the whole, the world is filled with good and bad things, denying that bad things exist only show one side of the story. And this community is and I agree with you and emphasize “wonderful” ^^
Thank you for the input and if you are looking for a more positive and interesting poem check The Phoenix Awakens
